Last year I wrote this post about how Easter is for everyone. To me, Easter at its core is about second chances. It's about forgiveness and rebirth. Because of this, I think that Easter is a holiday that people of all religions (or no religion, even) can observe.
I think that being forgiven and starting over has a certain appeal. Not long ago I ended up hurting my friend @TheRealStinky's feelings. I didn't mean to, of course, but I hurt him regardless. I would like to be forgiven and give our friendship a second chance; though he doesn't owe me that, by any means.
So then I got to thinking...how many other pals have I hurt by accident? Perhaps with a careless remark or even no remark at all?
That is why to me Easter this year is about being a better friend.
Oh dear friend. I think we've all been in that position where something we said maybe didn't come out just as we had wanted it too and caused hurt feelings. I hope Stinky does forgive you. This is such a good message for all of us and i'm going to advertise it a little Twitter tonight.
ReplyDeleteI agree Mario and Maximus! Life is too short to have bad feelings about others. Mom had tough phone calls to make today because her sisters are not visiting their mom enough and that is only part of the problem with one of them. Her calls worked some but one sister probably will be mad at mom a long time. But holding bad feelings in when they need to be shared is important too or the forgiveness can never happen!
ReplyDeleteWise words, Maximus, Mario and Yoda. Maybe I should forgive Reggie for rolling me over when he first came in from the streets more than two years ago. My humans forgave him, but I'm still afraid of him.
ReplyDeleteI believe this is a very important message to get out, and that today's the purrfect time to do it. We all need forgiveness sometimes, and to forgive others who have hurt us. Thank you for your thoughtful words - the world will be a better place if we take heed of them.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully said efurrybuddy. and Cheshire sweetie, you can forgive Reggie and still remember that he may accidentally hurt you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great observation about Easter! I think we should all remember that all year, that everyone deserves forgiveness and a second chance. Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrs.
ReplyDeleteMaximus, you are one wise woofie. We all say and do things that don't come out quite the way we want them too. I hope we can all be big enough to forgive and forget. There's enough sadness in the world. More forgiving would make the world a much better place.
ReplyDeleteMax there is nothing to forgive, I don't blame you for anything. I know you acted from the good of your heart. Please understand that I did too. You are always my friend pal!

P.S. GOL When you mentioned rebirth you made me think of Evangelion. I know you will understand why even if no-one else does. It is a lovely thought though that Easter should be for us all.
